Biography

Many performers sing songs. It's no surprise to anyone. But some artists sing songs about it. And not everyone is worthy of it. One of such stars is Ivo Bobul. He rose to fame in the 1980s. And for a new generation, he has become famous thanks to the Ukrainian rock group Tanok na Maidani Kongo, who composed a song called 'Ivo Bobul' in 2004. In the composition, the artist has the abilities of a superhero and is always ready to come to the rescue. Thanks to such a popular flick, Ivo Bobul's live show remains in demand and relevant to this day.

But life itself has not been sweet for the performer. Ivo Bobul's biography is not easy and carefree. In June 1953 in Telebreche village (located in the Chernivtsi region) Ivan Bobul — the real name of the performer - was born. His family had many children, and his very childhood passed in poverty. As a boy, Ivo Bobul was shy and was ashamed of his appearance and the social status of his family. After his father died, his mother had to send him to a boarding school.

After the 8th grade, he attended a vocational school. There he participated in an amateur art competition between other schools. Ivo Bobul became the undisputed winner.

While working at a construction site he learned to play the guitar, and while in the army he began to gather listeners and held Ivo Bobul concerts. After leaving the army, he decided to devote himself to art and started working as a singer in a restaurant. At the end of the 70's he was noticed by a composer, Valeriy Pavlovich Gromtsev, and was offered a position in the Philharmonic Hall of Sevastopol. It was from this time way to the big stage opened for Ivo Bobul.

Career

The early 80s were the beginning of a career and creative breakthrough for Ivo Bobul. The singer worked in Chernivtsi Philharmonic, at the same time being a member of the Cheremosh group. A year later he joined the vocal-instrumental ensemble Zhiva voda. Both groups were developing at the same philharmonic. The artists even managed to record a record, and their compositions became the charts of the time. Soon it became a prestigious and modern affair to buy a ticket to an Ivo Bobul concert.

From 1984 till 1990 Ivo Bobul had a quiet period. Even though he worked in Czernowitz Philharmonic he did not tour and his former fame faded away a bit. But soon the popularity of Ivo Bobul would come back, coming into the radios of Ukrainians with a mega-hit "Na Ukrainu Povernus`".

In 1992 Ivo Bobul becomes a part of the theatre company Etude, and he tours extensively within the USA. Ivo Bobul's performances attracted people far beyond the borders of Ukraine. He has given concerts in Portugal, Canada, Spain, Romania, Poland and other countries.

Ivo Bobul's creative work not only attracted hundreds of thousands of listeners around the world but also brought him rewards in the form of awards. In 1995 he was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of Ukraine. Three years later he was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of Ukraine. In 2003 he was awarded the Silver Order of Yaroslav the Wise and in 2013 he received the Order of Merit for his outstanding achievements in the social and cultural life of the country.

Private life

Ivo Bobul is such an open, honest, sincere man that every love affair he has ever had has ended in marriage. He has been married four times. There is practically no information about his first two marriages. His third wife was Lilija Sandulesa, who was a famous artist at the time and also worked in Zhiva voda band. The couple were united by creative work; they often performed as a duet, gathering full concert halls in the 80s. In 1991 they decided to formalize their love life. The pair have been together for 11 years.

The fourth wife was Ivo Bobul's girlfriend Natalya, a psychologist by education. Their meeting was accidental and neither of the couples thought it was just the beginning of something great. After his previous relationship with Lilia Sandulesa, Ivo Bobul was in a very painful rebound. His heart was frayed and he didn't believe he could ever love again. Therefore, the romance with Natalia initially took place only on the phone. And only three years later, Ivo Bobul still dared to open up again to beautiful feelings. And he didn't miss a beat.

Even though the age difference between Natalya and Ivo Bobul is 12 years, the couple lives in harmony and happiness. They have a son together, Daniel. He was baptised by Leonid Danilovich Kuchma himself, the former President of Ukraine.

Ivo Bobul also has two other children from previous marriages, Ruslan and Lyudmila. They are adults now and have been living their own lives for a long time. The elder son lives in the United States of America, the daughter is settled in her native Chernivtsi.
